Kahlil McDonald update

23 03 2010

I spoke with Blinn (Texas) College basketball coach Tra Arnold this morning about 2010 JUCO prospect Kahlil McDonald and how his recent visit with Western Kentucky went.

Arnold said McDonald had a very positive visit and enjoyed a lot of what he saw, but at this time, he’s still weighing all his options as far as where he’ll sign next season.

Arnold informed me that McDonald is still in the process of planning some visits and is waiting to see how the proverbial college coaching carousel pans out in the coming weeks.

“He’s still looking, but I know he was really impressed with what he saw up there,” Arnold said. “He’s in the process (of looking at other schools) and still waiting to see how some things pan out with coaching situations at certain schools.”

McDonald, a 6-4 190-pound guard from Brooklyn, N.Y., was rated as the 12th-best junior college prospect in the country by Rivals.com in November.

“He was a special kid for us, he can really score the basketball,” Arnold said. “He’s really a complete player.”

McDonald averaged 23.4 points per game last season as a sophomore, he also shot 45 percent from behind the 3-point arc.

McDonald was in town over the weekend for his official visit, along with fellow JUCO guard Ken Brown – who gave WKU his commitment on Monday.
