William Green to transfer from WKU

9 04 2010

And then there were two.

WKU freshman forward William Green told me this afternoon that he – like teammate Jameson Tipping – will be transferring from Western Kentucky.

Green did not play in any games this season for WKU, sitting the entire year out as a redshirt.

Like Tipping, Green said he is still on good terms with WKU coach Ken McDonald.

Green said that he and McDonald felt as if he was sort of caught in the middle of playing a small forward or power forward position at this level, and with WKU’s returning players and incoming class – the two parties felt it would be best if Green looked elsewhere.

Green said he is unsure of his immediate plans as of right now and will be weighing his options open, but he did say that after some initial disappointment, he’ll be looking at this situation as a blessing in disguise so to speak.

I’ll have a full report on this in Saturday’s Daily News.
