FIU 2, WKU 0 mid third

27 05 2010

FIU’s Garrett Wittels has extended his hitting streak to an even 50 games, bringing him eight games shy of the NCAA record of 58 games.

But more importantly for WKU, the Hilltoppers trail 2-0 early here in Murfreesboro.

FIU’s Pablo Bermudez led the game off with a solo homer to right center off WKU starter Shane Cameron to make it 1-0.

Golden Panther third baseman Jeremy Patton followed Wittels single to left with an RBI sacrifice fly to make it 2-0.

And with virtually no bullpen to speak of, the game will continue to be Cameron’s for as long as he can go – good or bad.

We’ll keep you updated as we move along here – but remember, one more loss and the Hilltoppers are done for the season.
