Ready or not …

9 08 2010

Say goodbye to your summer everyone.

No, seriously. Do it now … we’re waiting.

I officially bid my summer adieu quite a little while ago, but it officially goes out the window tonight when the Western Kentucky football team takes the field for the first time this fall.

Camp practice begins tonight at 6 p.m. and will run through Aug. 28 leading up to the first game week of 2010 (WKU travels to Nebraska on Sept. 4).

The schedule itself is pretty straightforward: it’s every day.

First-year coach Willie Taggart and his squad will be on the field every day this week (including Saturday and Sunday). Sunday marks the first two-a-day session of camp.

Also, Taggart’s first official media day takes place on Tuesday – so keep an eye out for plenty of info from that.

As always, I’ll be out on the field throughout the entire process – bringing back plenty of football-loaded coverage over the next three weeks.

A few things to keep an eye on this month:

– the quarterback race

– how the defense adapts to a new scheme

– which players in Taggart’s first full recruiting class make the biggest impact

– the continued effort from Taggart and staff to change the overall attitude of this football team

– and more

Stay tuned to the blog and the daily print edition of the Daily News from here on out.
