2012 football schedule shuffles

9 09 2010

WKU senior associate athletic director Todd Stewart confirmed Thursday that a verbal agreement is in place to put Austin Peay on the home football schedule in 2012.

WKU had originally scheduled non-conference games with Hawaii, Kentucky, Alabama and Iowa State in 2012 – but due to the Big 12 Conference’s recent shuffles, the game with Iowa State has been officially removed.

Once the paper work on the Austin Peay game is complete, WKU’s non-conference schedule for the 2012 season will be home against Austin Peay on Sept. 1, at Alabama on Sept. 8, at Kentucky on Sept. 12 and at Hawaii on Dec. 1. As for Sun Belt play in 2012, WKU will be at Troy, at Arkansas State, at FIU, at Louisiana-Lafayette, home against Middle Tennessee, home against Florida Atlantic, home against Louisiana-Monroe and home against North Texas. The dates of all league games are still to be determined.

WKU is still in search of one final opponent for the 2012 season, however, as the contract with Hawaii allows the Hilltoppers 13 games rather than the standard 12.

ISU was supposed to be a home and home series… is this still going to happen in later years or did they back out of the whole deal?

As far as I know, Iowa State is completely off the schedule altogether.
