Kahlil McDonald not on the Memphis trip

3 12 2010

The Daily News learned today that Western Kentucky junior guard Kahlil McDonald has not made the trip to Memphis with the team this weekend, and will not play Saturday when the Hilltoppers take on the No. 14 Tigers.

A source close to the situation said that McDonald has not been suspended, but the coaching staff made a decision that it would be best for McDonald to not join the team this weekend at Memphis due to recent on-court frustrations – allowing the junior shooting guard to re-focus himself going forward.

The plan at moment is for McDonald to re-join the team next week for its road game at Bowling Green State.

A junior college transfer this season, McDonald is averaging 4.7 points and 1.6 rebounds per game this season – and has appeared in all seven WKU contests to this point.

WKU and Memphis tip off Saturday at 7 p.m. in Memphis.
