The Hilltoppers went on a 10-0 run to go up as many as seven, but MTSU responded with a 9-0 run almost instantly to take a one-point edge into the break.

Big minutes off the bench from Teeng Akol – on defense anyway – Akol swatted four shots during WKU’s spurt.

Steffphon Pettigrew has 10 points and five rebounds to lead the Hilltoppers – who shot just 9 of 28 from the floor.

James Washington has 13 points to pace MTSU – who shot 8 of 27 for the first half.

WKU also played the majority of hte first half without Jamal Crook, Kahlil McDonald or Juan Pattillo – as each had two early fouls.
