The College Heights Herald first reported the news today, but the Daily News has also confirmed with a source that WKU defensive backs coach Clayton White has left the school and will head to UConn for a coaching position.

White’s job at UConn is unclear at this time.

White came to WKU last season with coach Willie Taggart from Stanford. White served as Stanford’s defensive backs coach from 2007-09. He’s also had stops at at Western Michigan and Western Carolina.

White was rumored to be a candidate for WKU’s recent defensive coordinator spot – a job that ultimately went to Lance Guidry.

Good Luck to coach White. We will find another. Life moves on. Are there any other coaches leaving?

Never really can tell, the whole comings and goings of football coaches seems to last longer and longer every season.
White’s departure shouldn’t be a surprise – he’s a solid coach/recruiter. He interviewed for the defensive coordinator position at WKU, didn’t get it, and will likely get a nice bump at UConn.
