WKU basketball update

11 03 2011

I spoke with Western Kentucky senior associate athletic director Todd Stewart this morning, who told me that athletic director Ross Bjork’s current “evaluation process” of Hilltopper coach Ken McDonald and the WKU basketball program is “ongoing,” and that the university will have a comment on the matter when the process itself is complete.

Stewart said that the process itself could be completed as early as next week.

Stewart said earlier this week after WKU’s season-ending loss to North Texas in the Sun Belt Tournament semifinals that Bjork had plans to sit down with McDonald to discuss the season and the state of the program (something Stewart said Bjork does with all WKU coaches), and would have no further comment on any matter until that process was complete.

WKU is staying very close to the vest here, not offering any official comment one way or another. And it likely appears that Bjork and McDonald’s meeting won’t exactly be a one-time sitdown – and it will more likely be an ongoing conversation.

Obviously we’ll have more on this as news becomes available.

The Hilltoppers finished 16-16 this season, 8-8 in the Sun Belt Conference.
