Nevada PG to visit WKU

5 04 2011

Findlay Prep (Nev.) point guard  Kevin Kaspar told the Daily News on Monday that he hopes to make a visit to Western Kentucky on April 22.

The Turkish-born Kaspar – a 6-1, 180-pound point guard –  was part of a Pilots’ squad that fell just short of a third straight national championship this past season with a quarterfinal loss in the ESPN Rise National High School Invitational.

Kaspar is also another recruit with ties to current WKU signee Derrick Gordon, as the duo are former AAU teammates.

According to the fine folks (Jason Stamm) at, Kaspar currently holds offers from Utah State, TCU, Central Michigan, Northern Illinois, Creighton, Sam Houston State and Western Kentucky.

He has not received a star ranking from as of now, but is rated as an “88” by – and listed as the 60th best point guard for the 2011 class. describes Kaspar as “a tough and skilled combination guard. He can knock down open shots with three point range and get the ball to teammates with his good feel for the game and basketball IQ. Kaspar plays with passion and does something to help his team on a consistent basis.”

This is obviously another move by WKU to strengthen an extremely thin back court. The Hilltoppers are still chasing – and still in the mix for – 2011 Kentucky Mr. Basketball Anthony Hickey of Christian County. Hickey seems to be in no rush to make a decision, and could wait until the end of April to decide according to Christian County coach Kerry Stovall.

We’ll keep everyone updated as more becomes available.
