WKU hoops: Gordon becomes a four-star, Fant cracks Rivals Top 150

27 04 2011

Rivals.com announced the final edition of the Rivals Top 150 for the 2011 class today, and two Western Kentucky signees were given an upgrade.

St. Elizabeth (N.J) shooting guard Derrick Gordon was moved to a four-star player rating, and is now rated as the 105th best prospect in the country.

Warren Central power forward George Fant – a three-star player – was labeled as the 150th best prospect in the country, according to Rivals.

Gordon becomes WKU’s first four-star signee since Terrence Boyd signed prior to the 2009-10 season. Boyd obviously never played for the Hilltoppers, though, as he was dismissed before the start of practice in the fall.

UPDATE:

It seems to be a hoops recruiting bonanza today.

Scout.com released its 2011 class rankings today as well – and WKU came in as an honorable mention, finishing just outside the nation’s top 30.

To recap – as of now – WKU’s five signees are SG Derrick Gordon (4 star), PF George Fant (3 star), G/F Nigel Snipes (3 star), PF Vinny Zollo (3 star) and C Deng Leek (3 star).

“Scout.com released its 2011 class rankings today…”
Premature?

Not by standard DeeCee – I believe they set a pre-determined date to put all that stuff out. Individual ranks included.

I do get your point, though, as there are still a decent number of unsigned players out there – and it’s been an unusually slow late signing period this spring.

It’ll pick up, though.
