21 05 2011

The Western Kentucky baseball team knocked off Middle Tennessee on Saturday – that, coupled with a Florida Atlantic loss, puts WKU as the No. 4 seed in this week’s Sun Belt Baseball Tournament in Monroe, La.

The Hilltoppers will face off with the No. 5 Owls at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the first game of the tournament.

The tournament is a bit different this season – as it’s been broken up into two pools.

WKU’s will be in a pool with No. 1 Troy, No. 5 FAU and No. 8 UALR. The Hilltoppers are scheduled to play UALR on Thursday and No. 1 Troy on Friday.

By way of pool play, the Hilltoppers will be off Saturday.

The championship game is slated for Sunday – and will pit the winner of each pool.

The other pool will feature No. 2 FIU, No. 3 Louisiana-Lafayette, No. 6 South Alabama and No. 7 Arkansas State.

Two-way tie-breaks will be determined by head-to-head records, three-way tie-breaks will go to the highest seed.
