The Western Kentucky baseball team gave up six runs over the seventh and eighth innings Thursday, dropping to 1-1 in pool play at the Sun Belt Tournament in Monroe, La.
WKU now finds itself needing some help to advance to the Sun Belt final on Sunday.
If Florida Atlantic beats Troy tonight, if WKU beats Troy on Friday and if FAU beats UALR on Saturday – by way of a three-way tie, the fourth-seeded Hilltoppers would play in the SBC title game on Sunday.
Three-way ties are broken by the highest seed (No. 4 WKU, No. 5 FAU, No. 8 UALR).
That is the only scenario that puts the Hilltoppers in the championship game.
Anything other than that eliminates WKU.
If Troy beats FAU tonight, the Tops are done – and UALR is in the title game.
