The College Heights Herald stopped by the Toppers on Tour destination in Lexington tonight, and reported that Ken McDonald told folks at the stop that freshman center signee Deng Leek will not qualify academically out of high school for next season – and thus, won’t be part of the class.
WKU athletic director Ross Bjork told the Daily News on Thursday that the school was still waiting on qualifying confirmation for Leek and did not expect him on campus with the rest of WKU’s incoming signees this month.
Bjork said the university hoped to have official word on Leek’s status by the end of June. On Friday, a source close to the situation confirmed to the Daily News that WKU picked up its eighth commitment in the form of JUCO small forward O’Karo Akamune.
And with Leek reportedly out – WKU appears to now have its numbers on target for next season.
