The pair of conference championships won by the Western Kentucky University men’s and women’s outdoor track teams in Murfreesboro, Tenn. on Sunday marked the 75th and 76th overall team Sun Belt Conference championships captured by WKU’s 19 athletic teams since the 1999-2000 school year. “This is a tremendous achievement to win 76 championships in a 12-year span,” said WKU Director of Athletics Ross Bjork. “Perhaps even more impressive is these championships have been won while we have simultaneously excelled academically, as 85% of our student-athletes who have completed their
eligibility during this time frame have graduated. Our student-athletes and coaches are to be congratulated for this noteworthy achievement, and the tireless contributions behind the scenes of many in our athletic and university administration are also to be commended. We are very proud and will continue to showcase the perfect blend of academic and athletic success we have here at WKU.”
